The first time I saw the reviews, all were about breakfast and brunch (for all you don’t know, the word “brunch” was invented to give a name for the food you eat between breakfast and lunch) so I decided to go and have breakfast, but instead I ended having an early lunch.
I went to Paper Plane Cafe, located in Parramata. Very, VERY far from were I live. So I took the ferry (30 minutes), train (50 minutes) and a bus (5 minutes). Quite a journey, I must say.
First impression: BEAUTIFUL !
It was a sunny and not so cold day, so I sat outside on the sidewalk – most of all the cafes and restaurant in Sydney have outside tables. For those like me, that are flying solo, don’t feel alone -.
I ordered the Homemade Strawberry Lemonade, that came in an old jam jar with a two colour paper straw. Well you can see the picture. The HSL, tasted like a strawberry Calypo. Good or bad, it’s up to you (but … it was goooooood).
BTW I love this jars
Then, the Beef Burger with LOT. It was the last item on the menu, so why not give it a try. Of course I didn’t realised that LOT, would actually mean a lot of things.
Ten minutes later, there it was. My big, no sorry, my BIG burger. It was huge, and with some fries next to it. The egg was so perfectly located on top of the burger that it was a dream come true.
The first bad thing was that the egg white wasn’t well cooked, so it was automatically removed from the burger; and the other one was that the bacon is not like the american bacon that I’m used to (thin, crunchy and oily = real bacon) here is thicker and not crunchy, is like eating cocked thick ham. YIAC (Just in case…It’s a sound, not an actual word)
Well beside that, the burger had a quarter pounder beef patty, bacon, fried egg, caramelised onion, beetroot, swiss cheeses, tomato and lettuce with a side of bad boys. H U G E. It seems that the “bad boys” are the fries with paprika or merken, nice and spicy.
Meanwhile I was digesting the feast I went on reading the menu and I found the Paper Plane Burger; beef patty, peanut butter, bacon (thick bacon, not the american one) lettuce, tomato on a brioche bun with a side of bad boys. Not a huge fun of peanut butter, but if it is the one with the name of the Cafe, it must be good. Then was their own type of coffee, “Picasso Blend” (str
ong honey fragrance, complex flavours of dark chocolate, coconut & coffee blossom. Bright acidity of green apple & orange. Sweet throughout the cup with a buttery body & toffee finish. Just by reading that i was dizzy. So I ordered it in a soy cap (cappuccino with soy milk) with the porpoise of reducing that dizziness.
“This is the first time that I write while I’m eating. Well not really at the same time, but within an hour” That was my last sentence, but now is the day after that, so I had to change all the tenses into past.
Thank you for joining me while I eat.
PS: Been seen alone with a computer in a restaurant is so much cooler than with an smart phone.
